General Membership Requirements for the Alliance of Divorce Professionals:

  • Member must be cooperative in nature and spirit.
  • Member must be in good standing with his/her professional board and adhere to those ethical standards respectively.
  • Proof of eligibility - due with application (license and supporting documents)
  • Member must complete continuing education as required by your Professional Organization.
  • Member shall not receive financial remuneration for giving or receiving a referral from another ADP member.
  • Member shall report any ethical or legal concerns to the Standards of Practice Founding Member.
  • Any grievance shall be first (and only) addressed to the individual concerned; if issue remains unresolved, member shall go to the Standards of Practice Founding Member immediately.
The Alliance of Divorce Professionals supports all models of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). ADP professionals shall meet the following minimum Standards for their respective profession:

Family Law Attorney Professionals:

The Family Law Lawyer shall:
  • Have at least 2 years practicing family law, or worked on at least 15 family law cases, and
  • Have basic cooperative family law training.
Minimum Standards for Mental Health Professionals:

Be a member in good standing in your discipline and have:
  • Two years experience working with divorcing couples, and
  • Basic Professional Coach training
Minimum Standards for Mediator Professionals:
  • Membership in at least one Mediation Association
  • Completion of basic and advanced divorce Mediation training
  • Completion of Family mediation training
  • At least 2 years or 15 cases experience with divorcing couples
  • 8 hours continuing education each year
Minimum Standards for Financial Specialists:
  • License with State Board of Accountancy
  • At least 2 years experience working with divorcing couples
Minimum Standards for Legal Document Assistants (LDA):
  • Member in good standing of at least one LDA association
  • Be registered and bonded as required by the Business & Professions Code
  • At least 2 years experience in the area of family law document preparation
  • At least 2 years providing services directly to the public
Minimum Standards for Support Professionals not specifically addressed above:
  • Member in good standing of their regulatory board or association

ADP will help you obtain a better or good, uncontested, mediated, collaborative, no court divorce using a legal document assistant [LDA], or mediation with a mediator, or a collaborative divorce using collaborative law with a collaborative attorney or lawyer, resulting in a marital settlement agreement [MSA], memorandum of understanding [MOU], and filing all the necessary legal forms, such as asset and liability and income and expenses financial disclosure forms, as well as a qualified domestic relations order aka QDRO. Your divorce will include all separate, community & quasi community property, debts, financial disclosure forms, retirement plans, 401k plans, pension plans, as well as spousal support, alimony and child support. There will be a custody agreement that might be sole, joint and primary and include move-away issues, as well as a parenting and/or co-parenting plan, and could include pet custody, time-share or visitation schedule. This process is good for co-habitation agreements, as well as civil union, gay & lesbian partners and/or relationships, domestic partnerships.
